Becoming Larniece, the Author

My Writing Philosophy

I am drawn to the stories people carry beneath the lives everyone else can see—the private questions, complicated relationships, quiet wounds, and unfinished parts of ourselves that rarely fit into simple explanations.

My writing lives in those spaces.

Through fiction, poetry, and personal reflection, I explore the ways love shapes us, faith challenges us, relationships expose us, and healing asks us to confront what we would rather leave buried. I am less interested in perfect people or neatly resolved lives than I am in the emotional truth of becoming: the choices we make, the patterns we repeat, the stories we inherit, and the moments that force us to see ourselves differently.

I write with honesty, curiosity, and a willingness to remain inside the question. My work does not promise that every wound will close or every conflict will make sense. It makes room for contradiction, vulnerability, desire, grief, humor, and the complicated truth that growth rarely happens in a straight line.

This is the work I hope to leave behind—writing that feels deeply human, gives language to what readers have struggled to name, and remains with them long after the final page.

Stories & Collections

Stories have a way of staying with us long after we’ve turned the final page. They introduce us to people we’ll carry with us, challenge the way we see ourselves, and sometimes give language to experiences we’ve never been able to name.

My stories and collections grow from the same questions that shape my personal reflections. Each work enters those questions differently, exploring what it means to live, love, question, heal, and become.

Somewhere in between: a novel

There are moments in life when everything we thought we knew begins to unravel.

The beliefs we inherited no longer fit. The relationships we depended on become complicated. The roles we’ve carried for years begin to feel too small for the person we’re becoming.

As old wounds resurface and long-held questions demand answers, she finds herself standing between certainty and doubt, survival and healing, who she has been and who she is becoming.

This is a story about the courage to question, the struggle to heal, and the grace required to embrace the unknown.

Because sometimes the most important chapters of our lives are written in the spaces between.

echoes from between: the poetry from somewhere in between

Some stories are told through chapters. Others find their voice in poetry.

While Somewhere In Between follows Janiyah’s journey through the choices she makes and the relationships that shape her life, Echoes from Between gives voice to the thoughts and emotions that exist beneath the surface of her story. The poems are not separate from the novel; they are part of its heartbeat, offering another way to experience the inner dialogue, heartaches, hopes, and quiet revelations that define her journey.

Collected here for the first time, Echoes from Between brings together the poetry

woven throughout the novel,

allowing each poem to stand on its own while remaining deeply connected to the story from which it was born. Together, they explore love and loss, faith and doubt, brokenness and healing, and the lifelong journey of discovering who we are beneath the lives we’ve learned to live.

Whether you’ve already walked alongside Janiyah or are discovering these poems for the first time, Echoes from Between invites you to linger a little longer in the spaces between certainty and doubt, brokenness and healing, and who we are and who we are becoming.
